Arkadia – Defence Housing Australia – Civil Stormwater Works

Defence Housing Australia (DHA) appointed Cockram Construction to complete its landmark Arkadia apartment project in Alexandria.  The robust architecture with warm-face brickwork also echoes the history of the site, with it being the former site of the New South Wales Brickworks.

The scope of works included

• Excavating, laying and backfilling 40m of pipes ranging from 375mm-750mm RCP,
• Supply and construct CDS GPT,
• Supply and construct Ocean Protect jellyfish unit
• Connect into Sydney Water culvert
• Manufacture and fit galvanised brackets to fix Dn750mm RCP to the basement concrete plies

The complexities of the job included pedestrian management, working in and around a very limited space site, stitch coring for connection into a Sydney Water culvert and working with asbestos contaminated material.
